Alex's musical career began while he was at Hull University in the north of England. On graduating, he released his first record 'Watch the sun light up your face' and left the UK to spend a year in Barcelona, Spain. He fell in love with the Mediterranean city which has since then, become his adopted home.
Over the last few years, Alex's work has included numerous CD releases for both major and independent record labels, award winning music for TV commercials and character dubbing for film and television. Commercial releases Alex has been involved in include a number one hit in Spain, performing a cover of ‘70’s soul track ‘Hooked on a feeling’ for Blanco y Negro records (subsequently licensed to Warner UK). He has writing and singing credits on numerous other major and independent label releases. Recent recordings include singing on Isabel Coixet’s 'Goya' winning feature film ‘My life without me’ starring Sarah Polley, Deborah Harry and produced by Pedro Almodóvar. He has vocal credits on the soundtrack to the children's cartoon feature ‘10+2 The Big Secret’ with the Prague Symphony Orchestra, on David Civera’s 2003 Summer no. 1 ‘Bye Bye’, and co-wrote ‘Time to Live’, a hit for Spanish Pop Star Rosa.
Alongside the more commercial material, Alex has continued to record his own acoustic records. 'Uncut Diamond', Alex's latest solo album was released in Europe in Spring 2005, and in the UK in January 2006. Thanks to leading US online retailer CD baby selecting the album as an 'Editor's Pick' for well over a year, a steady stream of albums has been sold in the USA in addition to hundreds of digital downloads via i-tunes, Napster, Musicnet etc. Critical acclaim in the music press from Spain to Germany means people are beginning to connect with the release in Europe.
In the advertising world, Alex has contributed music to over 150 television commercials including writing the music to the VW Golf Tdi ‘desert’ ad, singing a cover of Donovan’s ‘Hurdy Gurdy Man’ for the VW Golf ‘Hamster’ campaign and putting his spoken voice to the Audi A4 ‘Kiss’ spot and last years Athletico Bilbao soccer ad starring champions league streaker Mark Roberts. All campaigns have won ‘Lions’ at Cannes advertising festival. He has recorded with the LSO on several occasions first putting his voice to a worldwide TV campaign for the Expo in Seville and later recording several songs including his own 'They used to say' composition for the musical 'Rejas' (Chains) .
