Uncut Diamond began its journey in Spain in January 2005, and has in a short time gained popularity and critical acclaim within the country. Word of mouth and great reviews have lead to sales in over 10 countries. From February 2006 the album will be available in Germany on the Wonderland label with distribution via Rough Trade Records shortly followed by the UK launch in the spring.

A heartfelt return to basics, this acoustic gem combines Alex’s intimate lyrics with his soulful vocals and captivating melodies. Uncut Diamond reflects Alex’s determination to write an honest and fresh acoustic album; one that flows along at a gentle pace, moving from intimate acoustic ballads to atmospheric instrumentals, providing a refreshing counterpoint to the myriad of formula and trend driven productions in the current commercial market. Self-written and produced and working with the cream of Barcelona based musical talent (see links), many of the tracks were recorded in single takes to retain the intimacy of these acoustic songs and producing an album that feels both refreshingly under-produced and deeply personal. “Freedom from commercial pressure has been phenomenally important for me for Uncut Diamond …. International interest has followed the album in its journey from country to country. From its initial release in Spain with Amphora Records, where Alex is already an established recording artist, the album is now represented in a growing number of countries. The album is selling well in the States, in no small part thanks to leading on-line retailer CDBaby.com (representing over 120,000 artists) making the album ‘Editor’s choice’ for over a year. More recently, Alex has signed to Wonderland Records in Germany, an offshoot of Acoustic Music Records and distributed by Rough Trade.
